The Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN client is available for CWSL faculty and staff to install on remote laptop computers or home computers.  A VPN (Virtual Private Network) client connects your off-campus computer into the CWSL internal network over a secure connection. The most common use for this VPN connection is to Remote Desktop to your office computer, allowing you to use "thick" desktop apps, like Infolink, Navision, Raiser's Edge, etc.

Note: if you only need to access your drive shares (your S: drive and U: drive), you do not need to install a VPN client.  Only install this VPN client if you need to Remote Desktop to your office computer.

To install the VPN client:

  1. Go to https://vpn2.cwsl.edu/global-protect/login.esp https://vpn2.cwsl.edu/global-protect/login.esp
(Copy and paste the above URL into your browser)

  2. Log in using your CWSL credentials (omit the "@cwsl.edu" in your username):

  3. Download the installer appropriate for your operating system (for Windows 10 systems, use the Windows 64 bit client):

  4. Execute the installer you just downloaded.

  5. After installing, run the GlobalProtect client. In the Portal field, enter vpn2.cwsl.eduthen click Connect

  6. You should now have a VPN connection into the CWSL network. You can verify this by opening a Command Prompt window and pinging the following IP address: 10.10.1.1

If you don't get a valid response (see below), the VPN is not connected.

The response below indicates the VPN is successfully connected:

Now that the VPN is connected into the CWSL network, you can Remote Desktop to your office computer (or perform some other operation that requires a VPN connection).
