Below are the instructions for installing the Mitel Connect "softphone" application on your home computer or laptop.  This software, when installed on a computer with a microphone and speakers (or USB headset), allows your remote computer to function as your office phone.  You can receive calls and make calls as your CWSL office phone number. 


Before installing, you must first have coordinated with the IT Service Desk to enable this feature!  


How to install on your home computer or laptop (Windows):

  1. If Outlook is running, exit Outlook.

  2. Go to http://helpdesk.cwsl.edu/software/mitel/MitelConnect.exe to download the Mitel Connect installer. Save this file to your local drive.
  3. Run the MitelConnect installer from the folder on your local drive where you saved it.

  4. Click Yes if you receive the User Account Control dialogue box

  5. Click Install in the Mitel Connect dialogue box:



  6. Click Next:





  7. Click the bullet to accept the agreement, then click Next:



  8. Click Next again, then click Install:





  9. Click Finish:




  10. Double-click on the Mitel Connect icon on your Windows Desktop:




  11. Enter your CWSL username and password, enter connectclient.cwsl.edu in the Server field, click Remember me, then click Login:




  12. Click Proceed Anyway:



  13. Check the Private networks box, then click Allow access




  14. You should now see the Mitel Connect client running:





  15. A couple of settings need to be checked. Click on Connect, then Settings:



  16. Click on Softphone.  Verify that the On startup assign me to my softphone box is checked.
    Also, if your microphone or speakers are not working during a call, check the Capture audio through dropdown setting to verify your device is set.



At this point, the Mitel Connect client software is now configured to work on your home computer or laptop computer.  This enables your laptop computer to function as your office phone anywhere you have an Internet connection.
